Reducing symptoms of anxiety disorders with CBD

Fear as a natural reaction to danger is essential for survival. However, people with anxiety disorders are also afraid of everyday situations. The negative feelings can occur in connection with shortness of breath, drowsiness, trembling, sweating or palpitations. The anxiety reactions can focus on certain things (phobias) or appear in general (generalized anxiety). Medications are often prescribed for anxiety disorders.

But people with anxiety are now increasingly turning to herbal tranquilizers to reduce the symptoms of their disease. CBD is also increasingly recommended for anxiety disorders. Users are encouraged in their positive attitude, as more and more studies are proving the interaction between CBD and the body's own endocannabinoid system. According to research reports, the endocannabinoid system is able to influence the emotional level.

The natural way to minimize anxiety

This should make it possible to counteract the increased release of stress hormones such as cortisol or adrenaline. CBD is also said to have a calming effect on body and mind. Since the extract from the hemp plant is also said to have an effect on the serotonin receptor, CBD is also frequently recommended for depression. Finally, serotonin is called the happiness hormone. For this reason, it is also conceivable that CBD is helpful for anxiety and panic attacks.

Study from Germany

A study from Germany, which deals with the effect of cannabidiol in anxiety disorders, has attracted attention. Students from the University of Leipzig conducted the inter-university study on the CBD. The randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial was conducted on 40 subjects with social phobia. At the beginning the anxiety values of the study participants were collected. A re-evaluation took place 30 days after taking the CBD oil or the placebo.

Of the 40 test persons, 20 participants received the active substance. The other group received a placebo. After 3 volunteers left the trial groups for private reasons, the study was continued with 37 participants - 19 in the CBD group and 18 in the placebo group. In those people who received the active substance, the anxiety values improved in 17 of 19 participants.

As a conclusion, it is clear to the study directors that CBD can actually improve the symptoms of people with social anxiety disorders. Since CBD is not listed as a drug and you can buy CBD oil freely in Germany, theoretically anyone with a social phobia can try it out for themselves. Nevertheless, it would be advisable to consult a family doctor.
